Continued development in digital (Model Based) Engineering (MBE) has enabled the creation of increasingly accurate digital twins which can predict the performance of products, lower developmental risks, and reduce the amount of physical testing required to verify capabilities. Twins improve development speed, customer agility, insight, and competitiveness in the emerging digital ecosystem. Digital twins support engineering detailed design, manufacturing automation, and sustainment performance via IT system integration, as well as enterprise level thinking that is driving cross functional data connectivity. MBEngineering is truly morphing into Model Based Enterprise and is fueling simulation technology applications such as the virtual wind tunnel and virtual prototypes, expanding opportunities in manufacturing automation, and automating data management across the functional and business domains.
