The volume of data that organizations create every minute continues to grow. This session explores how to identify what data points are important and what value the data holds so manufacturers can quantify and derive real economic benefit.

2:20 p.m. Concurrent Interactive (Re)Think Tanks
Choose from one of the following interactive sessions.
Should AI really stand for “augmented intelligence” instead of “artificial intelligence” because its real power is in augmenting the human workforce to address pain points, gaps, and bottlenecks? Whatever your perspective, AI’s current and potential impact on manufacturing is clear, and this Think Tank will explore how and where companies initiate and deploy AI in their processes.
Nearly 79% of respondents to MLC’s 2022 cybersecurity survey said they expected more attacks in 2023. As the threat level – and potential negative impact – rises, it’s imperative that manufacturers are up to speed on the latest protections, risks, and cyber-attack methods. This session will help you stay ahead of macro and micro risks.
This Think Tank will help you create an OT/IT dream team. When operational technology and information technology are aligned, manufacturers enjoy operational efficiencies, increased data and asset security, and reduced overhead. It is not about breaking down silos, but rather weaving IT and OT together so the entire enterprise can thrive in a collaborative, best-practice rich environment.
MLC research indicates that 80% of manufacturers have already invested in IIoT or will do so in the immediate future. Meanwhile, 60% have invested or will soon invest in 5G networks. The right IIoT ecosystem is essential to collecting the right data and leveraging streaming analytics, while 5G networks can enable a high-speed manufacturing environment with lower latency and the ability to connect more sensors and equipment than on previous generations of wired and wireless networks. This session will explore current use cases for 5G and other IIoT networking on the plant floor and considerations for its deployment.
The current manufacturing environment is teeming with MES and ERP systems. In fact, more than one-third of respondents to MLC’s 2022 Transformative Technologies survey say they have MES in place while nearly 85% have ERP software. But what are the implications for MES and ERP as new innovations and technologies are added to the manufacturing ecosystem? This Think Tank will explain how they will evolve and what manufacturing leaders need to know to successfully prepare for the future.
3:20 p.m. Networking and Refreshment Break
4:00 p.m. Executive Interview
4:30 p.m. Case Study: Data Strategy to Enhance Resiliency and Support Profitable Growth
- Chris D. West, Senior Vice President, Enterprise Operations and Barletta Boats, Winnebago Industries
In 2016, Winnebago Industries found itself with low market share, low revenue, and just one brand in its product portfolio. As the company found itself needing to grow and diversify through acquisitions, this meant adding many new production facilities to the manufacturing footprint. This case study will examine how the company has integrated these new facilities in a way that creates “one source of truth” while allowing portfolio businesses to keep a level of autonomy and without needing an immediate conversion to a common ERP.

10:30 a.m. Case Study: From Kotex to Kleenex – How Kimberly-Clark is Leveraging Digital Manufacturing
- Jay Agarwal, Senior Director, Digital Strategy and Manufacturing 4.0, Kimberly-Clark Corporation
Kimberly-Clark products are sold in 175 countries and used by one in every four people, globally. This scale is enabled by a comprehensive manufacturing network that provides high quality, fast throughput and reliable delivery using digital tools. Learn how Kimberly-Clark’s digital transformation achieved impact at scale, and how the resulting digital foundation enabled the deployment of advanced controls and machine learning.
11:00 a.m. Executive Interview: Connecting Manufacturing to the Customer Experience
Personalization is prevalent in consumer’s lives. Streaming services know what specific viewers like to watch. Car seats automatically adjust to a driver’s ideal position. Social media channels curate content based on a user’s interest. With such widespread experience personalization, end consumers increasingly expect equally robust experiences from manufacturers. Connecting customer experience expectations with core manufacturing is becoming critical in delivering market expectations. This session discusses Brunswick’s digital transformation focus from the CIO perspective including specific steps the organization is taking to strengthen customer ties and drive better customer experiences. A focus will also be put on the pattern of customer experience driving manufacturing needs across the board.
- Mike Adams, Chief Information Officer, Brunswick
- Prasoon Saxena, President, Manufacturing, NTT DATA
In conversation with: David R. Brousell, Co-Founder, Manufacturing Leadership Council
11:30 a.m. Meet the Innovators: 1:1 Briefing Sessions, Networking Break
12:15 p.m. Networking Lunch featuring Topic Tables
1:25 p.m. Concurrent Interactive (Re)Think Tanks
Choose from one of the following interactive sessions.
The pandemic’s effect on supply chains has proven long-lasting. The pursuit of resilience remains a top priority for the manufacturing sector. Explore digital tools in this Think Tank that have allowed companies to create agile supply chains that provide end-to-end visibility and flexibility.
According to MLC’s 2022 Transformative Technologies survey, two-thirds of respondents had already invested in factory floor industrial robots, but advanced robotics is on its heels. The same survey revealed that half of respondents’ companies had invested in automated vehicles, drones and mobile robots, and just under half had made a collaborative robot investment. As advanced robotics begins to take center stage, manufacturers need to understand the implication for the workforce, AI/ML, data acquisition and use, and much more. This Think Tank will help unpack it all.
Machine learning, a subset of artificial intelligence, enables machines to learn from past data or experiences without being explicitly programmed. The benefits of doing so have become clear to manufacturers: 70% of respondents to a 2022 MLC survey said they have invested in the technology or plan to by the end of 2024. This session will explore how manufacturers can get the most from the ML systems.
Leading in a digital age takes specific skills and knowledge. Sure, digital leaders still need to be strategic and understand current and future technologies, but change management, communication, employee empowerment, and trust-building all play an increased role. This Think Tank will help leaders understand how to become digital leaders who are adept at employing technology and these skills to drive desired business outcomes.
Complex problems are abundant in manufacturing: materials procurement, robotics, plant maintenance, route optimization, pricing, staffing, and scheduling. Quantum computing provides an opportunity to optimize operations to overcome this complexity. This session will provide an overview of some of the most promising quantum use cases in logistics, introduce the concept of classical-quantum hybrid computing, and provide guidance on assessing the suitability of quantum.
Upskilling isn’t just for workers. Legacy systems need to be upskilled to function in the modern, digital factory. But upskilling legacy systems into a digital ecosystem means integrating new technologies, considering cybersecurity implications, training workers, finding ways to extract and use data, and other factors that will be explored here.
