Daniel Shrives

Research Engineer II & Saint-Gobain Research North America

Working out of Saint-Gobain’s North America R&D hub, in the Data and Engineering Solutions team, Daniel Shrives brings a background in Robotics engineering to our focus in Sensors and Electromechanical systems. In this role, he works across business units to research and implement novel sensor approaches and measurement systems. This work often involves developing and implementing full solutions in addition to his strength in proof-of-concept work; regularly supporting internal customers in both R&D and plants.

Daniel’s favorite part of the job has been working to build a competency in scoping, designing, manufacturing and assembling electromechanical and robotic systems for R&D.  Working with a strong proficiency in Solidworks and close vendor contacts he builds considerable CAD assemblies then utilizes skills in machine work to manufacture and assemble substantial structures. Finishing the builds, he often wires compliant industrial controls cabinets, works with pneumatics circuitry, and develops and tests controls software. Additionally, he contributes towards building competency in sensors for industrial automation and QC, building the teams fundamental understanding in different measurement techniques and applications.
