Joe Dettmann, Ph.D., is a Principal at EY and leads the firm’s corporate purpose, culture & leadership solution. Joe works with boards, executive management teams, HR, Audit executives and other leaders to help them both protect and create value through people. Much of this work happens in the context of large-scale transformations, corporate transactions, and corporate audits. Joe’s approach is grounded in measurement and data and focused on auditing/measuring behavior and driving behavior change at scale. Joe uses analytics and behavioral science methods to help his clients modernized their talent practices. Joe is often focused on building high performing teams, transformative leaders and healthy corporate cultures. Joe also leads EY’s Michigan and Northwest Ohio market for People Advisory Services.
In his role, Joe manages a global team and collaborators inside and outside of EY. Joe also works directly with clients, publishes actively, and speaks at client and industry events.
Joe lives with his wife and three children in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and has a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Central Michigan University.
