ChatGPT’s early success has sparked renewed interest in the potential of AI technology. Competition among Microsoft, Google, and others will only accelerate generative AI capabilities as well as business interest in using them. We can expect to see it embedded in workplace technologies, enterprise resource planning systems, and other business applications. While ChatGPT has a promising future, it is important to remember that it’s not the generative AI model that holds value. The value is in the data itself and the productivity of using it more effectively to produce insights, content, or other commercial benefits. During this session, the MLC explored the possibilities and practical applications for generative AI within the manufacturing sector, in addition to addressing its limitations and potential risks, and the necessary preparations to drive successful outcomes. This event was held on April 27, 2023.

Topic Leaders: Ryan Elmore, Innovation Fellow, Technology at West Monroe; and David McGraw, Senior Manager, Consumer & Industrial Products at West Monroe
